Cage Whisk

  • Is named for the small round cage in center.
  • Has more surface and weight than standard whisks.
  • One of several whisk types.

Cage whisks have the most surface area and weight of all the standard whisks. This is because of the "cage" or "shaker ball" inside the whisk.

The main factors of what makes a whisk effective are weight and surface area. This is even more true when one is using the recommended side to side motion.

Cage whisks are very effective.

How to use a Cage Whisk

Cage whisks are made by lesser known brands than the ones we are used to in the United States.

As such, you likely won't find your favorite brand for this type of whisk. On the plus side however is that you can find the cheapest one and go for it. Most of the choices you see for sale will essentially be the same (stainless steel).
